    An introduction to Gifford Hill.

Gifford Hill is a joint venture between Burke Urban and related investor parties, the Murray Bridge Racing Club and Thoroughbred Racing SA . The purpose of the joint venture was to relocate the existing Murray Bridge Racecourse from Maurice Road, to a new $35 million facility at Gifford Hill; an 800 hectare parcel of land on the Southern side of the South-Eastern freeway from Murray Bridge.

As a significant government-supported urban growth development project, Gifford Hill is set to become home to about 10,000 residents over the coming years to meet the demands of the steadily expanding Rural City of Murray Bridge and support the City’s growth expectations over the next 30 years. The racecourse development is the integral first stage of this project.

This transition has recently taken place and the Murray Bridge Racing Club held it's first official race meet on July 26th 2019. This was considered a monumental milestone for the joint venture and the Murray Bridge Racing Club.

The new racecourse and function facilities at Gifford Hill are incredibly important to both the future of thoroughbred racing in South Australia as well as the Rural City of Murray Bridge.

The project now provides South Australia with a state of the art racecourse and in the future will also house a thoroughbred training facility at Murray Bridge. This facility will complement Adelaide’s only city course located at Morphettville.

The new Murray Bridge Racecourse, now open for business, will position Murray Bridge as a centre for horse racing excellence with world class racing and training facilities.

Murray Bridge Racing Club + Function Centre.

The new Murray Bridge Racecourse development on Brinkley Road at Gifford Hill is  now officially open for business.

The project has been funded by $20 million of private investment through Burke Urban and private investor parties, a $5 million Commonwealth Government grant, a $5 million State Government loan and  a $5 million short-term commercial loan from Thoroughbred Racing SA.

The racecourse facilities building is not only the centrepiece of the State’s newest race course, but the jewel-in-the-crown for Murray Bridge. This modern function centre has sweeping, uninterrupted views of the racecourse and will operate year-round as a high-end function and conference centre.

The new 2160m, 30m wide, even surface grass racetrack  is now arguably one of the best in Australia. It has a fully automated watering system and extensive drainage ensuring little to no water remains on the track’s surface. Multiple chutes allow for fair and kind starts to all horses.

21 Race meetings have been allocated for the 2019/20 season, including 2 Saturday Metropolitan meetings, 3 Public Holidays, 4 Sunday meetings, multiple mid-week meetings and the popular October Gold Cup.

    Key Features.

    Murray Bridge Trainers Village.

Located alongside the new world class Murray Bridge racecourse, will also be a brand new training facility known as the Murray Bridge Trainers Village.

This new precinct will consist of up to 40 Community Title equine allotments of various orientations, ranging in size from 4902m2 to 16525m2.

The allotments have been purpose placed for convenient and safe access by horse walking trails and tunnel under the main track to all of the Club’s current and future training infrastructure.

The Murray Bridge Trainers Village is now taking registrations of interest, so  register now to put a hold on a premium training allotment. They will be offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Newbridge - former Murray Bridge Racing Club land.

The relocation of the Murray Bridge Racing Club (MBRC) has now freed up the land that the MBRC occupied until recently adjacent the Murray Bridge Golf Club on Maurice Road in the heart of Murray Bridge.

Burke Urban are currently working on the plan for the redevelpoment of this land in to a master planned new residential community called Newbridge.

Newbridge will encompass both the old racecourse and the adjacent fairways of the golf course in a prime residential and recreational precinct with a total development area of 45.78 hectares.

The first stages of residential land will be released to the public in 2020 subject to detailed planning and market analysis. Newbridge will be developed before the Gifford Hill residential and town centre is developed.

The development will include and integrate an upgraded and expanded par-71 championship golf course, a linear park with pedestrian and cycle paths, approximately 315 residential lots,  a proposed tourist accommodation site and a proposed 4.0 hectare retirement village.

If you are interested in possibly living at Newbridge please register your interest now.
